Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our botanical garden walks at selkora
We keep a relaxed, leisurely pace—think strolling, not hiking. Most walks are 1 to 1.5 hours, with plenty of stops to enjoy specific plant collections, rest on benches, and chat about what we're seeing. You set your own comfort level, and there's no pressure to keep up.
Most of selkora's main pathways and the conservatory are paved and well-maintained. We focus our walks on routes with stable surfaces and regular rest areas. Some of the garden's more remote trails aren't wheelchair or walker-friendly, but we always let you know the terrain before you book, and we're happy to suggest alternative routes.
We run guided walks year-round, with different themes depending on the season. Spring brings the rose garden in full bloom, summer highlights the conservatory's tropical plants, and fall and winter offer quieter garden exploration. Check our seasonal guide or contact us to see what's happening when.
Not at all. Whether you're a keen gardener or someone who just enjoys being outside, our walks work for you. We explain plant varieties, garden design, and botanical history as we go—no jargon required. It's really about enjoying the space and learning at your own pace.
Pricing varies depending on the walk type and group size. Your admission typically includes the guided experience, plant knowledge from our guide, and access to the gardens. You'll need to arrange your own selkora garden entry ticket unless we've arranged group access. Get in touch for specific pricing and what's covered for your walk.
Yes, we can arrange private walks for groups—whether that's friends, a book club, or a seniors' community. Just let us know your group size, dates you're interested in, and any specific interests. We'll work with you to design a walk that fits your group's pace and interests.
